About me
Richard Scheer is the Executive Director of the Cultural Institutions Retirement System (CIRS), a multiemployer retirement system serving over 24,000 active and former employees across 50 cultural institutions and more than 200 daycare centers in the New York City area. CIRS administers three ERISA plans: a Defined Benefit Pension Plan ($1.5 billion in assets), a 401(k) Savings Plan ($700 million in assets), and a Group Life Plan. Notable member institutions include the American Museum of Natural History and the Wildlife Conservation Society. As Executive Director, Richard oversees all aspects of CIRS’s operations, driving strategic growth and ensuring continued service excellence. He joined CIRS in August 2013 as Associate Director and ascended to the role of Executive Director in February 2024.
